For example some people had an ice cream candy machine that attracted a lot of kids so when the parents wanted to shop they specifically chose to go to the store with an ice cream machine so that they can show up without being annoyed by the kids while others applied something called loss leader principle this would basic commodities like toothpaste at an ultra low margin so that they can convince shoppers into making a visit for example if the price with the 2 CD or DVD's that we're all high margin products now the seller might have lost 50 cents of the paste part of the rest of the bill he used to make 10 to $20 overall therefore Sam Walton carefully absorbed everyone of these elements and try to incorporate them in his store some ideas worked well some ideas did not. One thing was sure that if at all there was a retail idea that was floating around in the market it was impossible that Sam Walton did not know about it

The third lesson was Sam's unique team management principles—safety, collaboration, and shared ownership. Walmart's managers were given a sense of belonging by owning a percentage of their store. The culture encouraged open communication and teamwork to solve issues without blame, and most importantly, it promoted a culture of experimentation and innovation.

Whereas if you want to add another destination to the point to point model you will need another 8 plane therefore the hub spoke model is that model which can connect people from anywhere to everywhere in the most efficient manner.

The question arises: why does Southwest use an apparently less efficient system, and how do they remain profitable with it? This is how Southwest carefully choose their model and hit the spot of both cost and convenience which actually became turn them into a billion dollar profitable airline and this in turn gave them a ton of cash flow that kept them off load even during the times of crisis like 911 and even during the 2008 recession now the question is Southwest wasn't the only airline to use point to point model right there when other airlines too then why wouldn't those airlines as profitable as Southwest Airlines.

The conflict triggered a sudden and staggering 100% surge in oil prices in under a year. In the context of the aviation industry, fuel ranks as the second most exorbitant component in the supply chain. This juncture was of utmost gravity as the visionary CEO, Gary Kelly, astutely comprehended that the world stood on the precipice of another oil price surge.

In response, Southwest Airlines devised a strategy termed "oil hedging." In simple terms, it resembles an insurance policy for oil procurement. Southwest would engage in agreements with financial institutions, where they would pay a premium for their fuel today. In the event that oil prices were to skyrocket tomorrow, they would still be able to acquire their fuel at a predetermined price. For instance, if today's oil price stands at $25 per barrel, Southwest would secure it for $45 per barrel. Crucially, even if oil prices soared to $60 per barrel the next day, Southwest would steadfastly pay only $45 per barrel.

Commencing from 1994, Southwest initiated the practice of hedging, covering 20 to 30% of its fuel needs. By the year 2001, they had successfully hedged 100% of their fuel via their hedging platform. Astonishingly, this oil hedging strategy unveiled itself as a masterstroke. From 1998 to 2008, Southwest reaped the rewards, saving a colossal $3.5 billion compared to what they would have expended had they adhered to the industry's standard jet fuel prices. This $3.5 billion windfall constituted a remarkable 83% of their profits during the same period, spanning from 1998 to 2008.

While other airlines were hemorrhaging money in the aftermath of the 2008 oil price surge, Southwest Airlines basked in the glow of its profits, thanks to this astute strategy. This forms the second pivotal rationale behind Southwest Airlines' enduring profitability, even in the face of turbulent economic times.

In Southwest Airlines' core principles, the third and most important one is making both employees and customers happy.

In this company, when things get tough, everyone shares the difficulties, just like a close-knit family. This is how Southwest Airlines operates.

A good example of this happened after the 9/11 attacks. Many other airlines had to lay off a lot of employees, about 46,000 in total. But the CEO of Southwest, Jim Parker, chose a different approach.

He said, "We don't know what the future holds, but I promise you, your jobs are safe. We will keep paying your salaries, even though our planes are not flying."

At the same time, other airlines were not being very kind to their customers. They refused to give refunds and tried to find ways to avoid paying people back, because they were worried about losing money. But Southwest Airlines was different. They offered full refunds without asking questions. They showed great kindness, even when they were losing money.

What happened next is like a story from a legend. The decision to take care of employees and customers motivated the whole company to work together to get their planes back in the sky. When they got the green light to start flying again, the employees worked hard and solved problems that seemed impossible. They also worked to fix insurance issues. Flight schedules, which usually take a long time to make, were ready in just a few days.

So, what was this idea, and how did it inspire such famous products?

Let's travel back to the late 1800s when people started to prefer a clean-shaven look over bushy facial hair. But shaving back then was tricky.

You had two options: a super sharp straight razor that was a bit scary, or a safety razor that needed constant sharpening and was a pain and risk of cut. People had to visit barbershops all the time to keep themselves groomed.

Then, a salesman named King Gillette got really frustrated with his razor. He thought, "Why not have a razor with a detachable blade that you throw away after using, like a disposable camera?" And that's how he came up with the idea for the modern razorblade.

King Gillette patented his idea, and for 15 years, his company was doing great. But in 1921, the patents expired, and other companies started making similar razors. Gillette's sales started going down fast. That's when they needed a clever plan.

They came up with the "razor blade model." It was simple: sell razors at low prices and make profits by selling blades at higher prices. People would keep buying blades, and Gillette would keep making money. They sold razors at super low prices, sometimes even at a loss, just to get people to buy their blades.

This strategy worked like magic. In just a year after they started, Gillette's razor sales went up by a huge 127%, bouncing back from a 20% drop. This razor blade model became a pricing legend.

Today, this idea still influences big brands like Sony and Amazon. Sony sells PlayStation consoles at a loss, but they make money from games and subscriptions. Amazon sells Kindle devices almost without profit, but they earn from selling ebooks.

If you're starting a business, you can learn from Gillette. Create a system that keeps customers coming back. Make things easy for them, like Gillette did with disposable razors. But remember, don't rely too much on one idea. And be careful with pricing—it can help you succeed or fail.

Lastly, guard against overdependence on this model, for it may render you vulnerable to disruptive tides, as Kodak's history underscores.

Kodak was so stuck to making money by selling their film roles that in spite of being one of the first companies to file a patent for digital cameras they do not realize that the film role itself will cease to exist with the rise of the digital revolution and the fact that by sticking to the razor blade model they practically digging their own grave.

Starting from ITP, IDFA and now upcoming LTP.

Previous Apple unveiled modifications to iOS 14, set to be implemented in late 2020 or 2021. Some notable changes which included:

1. Apple will request app developers to voluntarily disclose the types of data they collect and how they intend to use it.

2. Starting with iOS 14, apps will be required to seek the user's explicit consent before tracking their activity, particularly in relation to accessing the device's advertising identifier or IDFA.

3. Apple introduced the new version of the device location signal called "reduced" or "Approximate Location."

Now it is Link Tracking Protection (LTP) is the name of the new iOS feature that will go live in September/October 2023 with the release of iOS 17.

In a nutshell, marketing parameters used to track individual users' behaviors across other websites will be removed by default from URLs.

With iOS 17, this feature will be activated in Messages, Apple Mail, Safari Private Browsing, and available as an opt-in in standard browsing mode.

Considering this feature there can be 4 scenarios:

1. Click on a link in Apple Mail -> open it in Safari with Private Browsing Mode turned on

2. Click on a link in Apple Mail -> open it in Safari without Private Mode

3. Click on a SMS link in Messages -> open it in Safari with Private Browsing Mode turned on

4. Click on a SMS link in Messages -> open it in Safari without Private Browsing Mode

After redirect if the Private Browsing Mode is turned on then Google gclid, Facebook fbclid, mc_eid etc will be removed.

What happens with URL parameters?

Considering 4 types of parameters.

1. mc_eid, fbclid, _hsenc and other parameters
   Most of these parameters known to be used for user level tracking in popular platforms

2. Other parameters, not from the list, but that can also be used for user level tracking.
   Like wbraid=abcde5489ehijt3chdw0w3zhtrn53w, ScCid=8b3a6817-a82a-45e8–9728-e1b3b045abb2 and one that was literally called “user-id”

3. UTM parameters

4. Any of the above, but the array of parameters started with “#” instead of “?”

The conclusions are:

• Apple removes user-level parameters from URLs only for specific vendor parameters (e.g., Google gclid, Facebook fbclid, etc.) and does not target less-known/more personalized parameters (e.g., customer-id, customer-number, etc.).

• UTM parameters are not stripped from URLs

• Apple does not remove parameters if the "#" symbol is used

Considering the current state, LTP does not display an exceedingly aggressive nature, although it is essential to remain aware that circumstances can undergo constant transformations. Undoubtedly, LTP is poised to develop and grow more intelligent and discerning. Therefore, marketers must be prepared with their next groundbreaking marketing concept before it concludes its journey.

It was On August 18, 2021, when Adobe Analytics Legacy API services reached their end-of-life date and gone shut down. Any integrations built using these services stopped working from on that day.

As alternative API integrations that employ these services are left to use 1.4 Analytics REST APIs or the 2.0 Analytics APIs. Legacy OAuth accounts can migrate to an Adobe I/O Analytics integration account, which can be used to access both the 1.4 Analytics APIs and 2.0 Analytics APIs.

Now it is time for JWT to be deprecated.

Adobe has announced in 2023 that they will deprecate the JWT authentication for all their APIs. The current setup that you have now is probably using the JWT authentication, because it is the most flexible one for creating new token.

Unfortunately, this authentication method is going away in 2025 (January 1st to be precise).

You have more than a year to switch authentication method.

Normally, the JWT certificate created automatically by Adobe valid for a year, so it means that all the users that have used the Adobe self-generated certificate will need to go to the developer console to change the certificate at least once before the migration.

Apart from many benefits the biggest benefit of using OAUTH SERVER-TO-SERVER credential is that as it does not use public certificates or private key pairs. You are not forced to rotate certificates every year.

oAuth Server to Server

The new system that is put in place for Adobe API is the Oauth Server to Server, or Oauth V2.

This authentication is way easier to setup than the JWT one.
